The reported study is based on the photoelectric observations of 104 lunar regions. Attention is given to four color contrasts of the lunar areas. It is found that the lunar surface has a low reflectivity. The observed color differences are small. However, different degrees of redness provide evidence for differences in composition and age between uplands, maria, and bright craters. It is found that at shorter wavelengths, the old continental areas are redder than the marial regions or ray craters of young formations.
