We wish to understand more about how star formation takes place in clusters, specifically how the dynamics, gravitational contraction and fragmentation of molecular gas within a large proto-cluster cloud leads to star formation. Most stars form in clusters and a better understanding has application to both Galactic and extragalactic star formation. An analysis of spectral line data on the molecular cloud and infrared data on the stellar population will be used to relate the gas dynamics to star formation. New observations from Mopra and the ATCA are required to complement existing VLA data by adding information on larger spatial scales (short spacings) that is not available with the VLA. The facilities of ATNF are at the appropriate angular resolution and geographic latitude.
