Astrometric results for 15 stars are discussed and evaluated. The amount of work done on Barnard's Star, 6 light years distant, is larger than for any other, and the star is treated in detail. One-, two-, and three-planet solutions of the astrometric data obtained by van de Kamp are discussed. Despite recent work by Gatewood and Eichhorn which failed to verify them, perturbations in the motion of Barnard's Star appear to be real and it seems highly probable that a planetary system exists around the primary star. Only four other stars have good evidence for being accompanied by unseen companions of low mass: Lalande 21185, 61 Cygni A, Cin 18,2354, and Cin 2347. Of these, only 61 Cygni A is likely to possess a planetary companion; the other companions are probably degenerate stars or white dwarfs. The time scale of future searches could be reduced by applying space-based or ground-based multi-spectral photometry to attempt direct observation of extrasolar planets.
