Geomagnetic Tail: Energetic Particles, Geomagnetic Tail: Space Missions

Scientific paper

A comparison between the spectra of energetic ions and electrons observed with the DOK-2 instrument onboard the INTERBALL-1 spacecraft and those expected from theoretical calculations is made. It is shown that a large body of experimental data on ion and electron spectra can be understood in terms of a simple model of particle acceleration in the vicinity of a magnetic field X-line during explosive growth of tearing instability.
