High-resolution Westerbork H I observations have been used to search for 21-cm absorption due to high-velocity clouds (HVCs) in spectra of continuum sources. Two absorption features were found in HVC 131 + 1 - 200, at the five- and three-sigma levels. The derived spin temperature is of the order of 50 K. The two continuum sources were not identified with a particular type of object and therefore could not be used to give limits on the distance to HVC 131 + 1 - 200. In another HVC field (M I, HVC 165 + 66 - 120) no observation was found.
