Optical and IUE UV observations of bright blue stars in M33 and M31 are presented in the context of ongoing research on the luminous hot stars in the galaxies of the local group. The five stars in M33 and the four stars in M31 are considered in terms of feature detectability, and the stars in pairs are compared to previously observed stars in M33. UV- and visible-range spectra as well as visible-range photometry results are used to derive spectral classifications and test continuum models. A comparison with bright blue stars in the Galaxy reveals that the UV-line spectrum and the stellar wind indicators are weak. The stars in both M33 and M31 have UV extinction laws that are similar to that of the LMC, and the stars are considered to be disk objects based on Galactic stellar and extinction anomalies. No evidence is obtained to support the notion that the strength of the hot wind lines and the ISM extinction depend on Z-distance.
