The interpretation that the Pioneer 6 Faraday rotation transient events were caused by streamer stalks of angular width 2° entering and leaving the radio ray path [Woo, 1997] is rejected on the basis that: (a) the magnetic field reversal in the streamer stalk produces a measurement signature inconsistent with the observations, (b) the observed magnitude of the events can only be achieved with unrealistically large values of product electron density times magnetic field, and (c) the short duration of the events cannot be reproduced by solar rotation. The most probable explanation for these events is still a series of coronal mass ejections.
