In recent years, by combining the infrared counts with optical counts,
the analysis has shown the evidence that the cosmic deceleration should
be nearly equal to 1/2 and at z ≤ 1 there might be a new population
of dwarf galaxies which is not included in the local luminosity
function. The author gives a review to these studies.
