The line strengths and Einstein A coefficients of methanol are calculated using the internal axis method Hamiltonian. Results are presented for the υt=0,1,2 torsional states up to J=12 for both the A and E symmetry species. Transitions between torsional states with Δυt = 1,2 are included, as well as the Δυt=0 transitions within a torsional state. The line strengths of weak transitions that are made allowed by asymmetry are also predicted. This formulation uses only the constant component of the dipole moment function (i.e. invariant with torsional angle γ). The present set of line strength data should be adequate for astrophysical purposes.
