We report on optical/near-IR faint galaxy number counts and on a detailed comparison between galaxy evolutionary models and the (optical-NIR) colors of faint galaxies. The observations are of two ``random'' high galactic-latitude fields, and have limiting magnitudes of fainter than (K,I,V)lim ~ (24, 28, 27). The near infrared data were taken with the Near Infrared Camera on the 10-meter Keck telescope, and the optical data were taken with the New Technology Telescope.
