We have investigated the chemical vertical structure of the Galaxy from planetary nebulae. The vertical resolution scale is of the order of 500 pc. A vertical gradient may exit in the first 5 kpc of galactocentric distance. Until now, however, a very important constraint to models of galactic evolution has been missing: the masses of the planetary nebulae nuclei. The masses, assuming a nucleus-progenitor masses relationship, would allow the ages of the progenitors to be determined. Therefore, it would be possible to extract a vertical ages gradient.
