The diffractive performance of large segmented telescope mirrors is
discussed with particular emphasis on understanding the PSF structure of
arrays of hexagonal and circular mirrors. Discriminating issues needed
to select mirror size and array are discussed and one solution is
proposed as it has been studied for the Canada France Hawaii Telescope.
