This proposal obtains the data needed to calibrate the FGS2 field optical distortion {OFAD}, i.e., geometric distortion. This proposal was orginally assigned to the SMOV4 program to satisfy SMOV4 AD OTA/FGS-06, but has since been migrated to the Cycle 17 Calibration Plan to allow a delay in the execution of these observations, pending certification by the FGS2 monitoring program that the instrument as stablized sufficiently for fine-calibration. The observations obtain the astrometric data to calibrate the OFAD to the accuracy of the input astrometric catalog { 30 mas using UCAC-2}. This is a 5 orbit test that uses FGS2 to observe the relative positions of 20 stars in the M35 cluster using the PUPIL {since the PUPIL will be used for guiding HST}. This proposal is valid for late August through late December at the Orient needed for the observations. However, the monitoring program can not certify instrumental stability until early December 2009 at the earliest. Therefore, these visits are to schedule no earlier than about 20-Dec-2009.;
