The instruments used in speckle interferometry are described and some sample results of the method are discussed. Diagrams of the main components of a speckle interferometry system are shown, and the improved imagery achieved from the procedure are illustrated in the cases of spectroscopic double stars, the Pluto-Charon system, galactic cores, cool stars, and circumstellar environments. The limitations of the method are addressed.
