Maps of DIRBE data with a zodiacal light model removed will be used to find the Galactic flux, F_nu = int I_nu (l,b) cos l cos b dOmega and the mean intensity, J_nu = (4pi )(-1) int I_nu (l,b) dOmega . Since residuals in the zodiacal light model can have a large effect on the direct evaluation of J_nu , a variation of the G(l,b) g(nu ) technique of Wright et al. (1991) will be used to make a more secure estimate of the galactic contribution to J_nu . {The National Aeronautics and Space Administration/Goddard Space Flight Center (NASA/GSFC) is responsible for the design, development, and operation of the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE). Scientific guidance is provided by the COBE Science Working Group. final GSFC is also responsible for the development of the analysis software and for the production of the mission data sets.}
