The MACHO collaboration has developed the ability to detect candidate microlensing events in near real time. We have also been awarded nightly time on the CTIO 0.9m telescope, in order to take high accuracy photometric data during the course of ongoing events. The real-time alert system has detected two candidate events well before peak, one in the Galactic bulge and one in the LMC. These were reported in IAU circulars 6068 and 6095, and resulted in both spectral and photometric observations by the community.
