Neutral wind estimates have been computed from EISCAT CP-1 data of the years 1985-1990 at three different altitude levels 101/102 km, 109/110 km and 117/120 km. They are discussed in terms of semidiurnal variations and means winds as a function of season and altitude. Comparisons with theoretical models as well as with other experimental results from incoherent scatter radars, MF-radars and meteor radars show a general good agreement. The influence of magnetospheric disturbances on the neutral wind and its fundamental variations is investigated using average Kp-values. A critical discussion of errors and uncertainties on the approach is also included.
