A cosmology with a decompressive equation of state is studied in 10 spacetime dimensions with bulk viscosity added. The evolution of the scale factor is calculated for the case of constant bulk viscosity, energy-dependent bulk viscosity, and curvature square-dependent bulk viscosity. The entropy generation rate is calculated for each of these cases, and three alternative cosmologies are compared with respect to the problem of entropy generation. It is speculated that a decompressive equation of state might emerge from a stringlike theory at low temperature and high energy density.
