High resolution long slit spectroscopy (instr. FWHM = 30 km/s) has been performed to investigate the internal kinematics and dynamics of the star-burst galaxy NGC 3310. The spectra reveal emission line widths and excitation properties characteristic for an extended burst of star formation in the central region. The rotating curve gradient near the center of rotation (1000 km/s kpc or greater) is one of the steepest found so far, but it seems not to be unique among nearby galaxies. A total mass of 10 to the 9th solar masses is established within the central 340 pc. A peculiarity in NGC 3310 is an extended area centered on the nucleus, with systematically altering asymmetric line profile. The discussion of this feature considers inflow of gas to the nucleus, an outflow cone caused by a galactic wind similar to M82, and, most likely, a merging dwarf galaxy.
