The discovery by Fermi-LAT of variable gamma-ray emission from 4 radio-loud Narrow Line Seyfert 1 revealed the presence of an emerging third class of gamma-ray emitting AGNs. This poses intriguing questions on the knowledge of the Unified model of AGNs, the development of relativistic jets, the disc/jet connection, and the evolution of radio-loud AGNs. We propose a 90 ksec XMM-Newton observation of the first RL-NLS1 detected in gamma-rays by Fermi-LAT: PMN J0948+0022. The XMM-Newton satellite, thanks to the high sensitivity of the EPIC cameras and the broad band coverage from optical to X-rays, creates a perfect synergy with Fermi for a complete understanding of properties of this prototypical gamma-ray radio-loud Narrow Line Seyfert 1.
