The basic formalism of the magnetic extraction of rotational energy and angular momentum is discussed in detail in the background of Kerr geometry. The formalism can be applied not only for the black hole at the center but also for the accretion disk on the equatorial plane. The Poynting power at infinity can be interpreted as a magnetic braking power subtracted by the dissipation power for the "rotating sphere" with "surface current" on it as if it rotates with angular velocity, ϖ = -β. For an idealized force-free magnetosphere, the power expression turns out to have no explicit dependence on the shift function. It is demonstrated that the power of Blandford-Znajek process can be derived with the horizon boundary condition.
