A study is presented of the stability of a nonequilibrium configuration in the form of a nonlinearly pulsating spherical Camm model against surface-type perturbations. The total dispersion relation obtained for the harmonics m = 1 and 2 is determined to coincide with that for the case of an Einstein sphere, whereas the value of the critical amplitude for barlike perturbations is the same in the two models. However, it is found that instability in the nonequilibrium Camm model will occur in this case if the radial component of the energy of stellar motion is greater than or equal to two times the transverse component of the energy of stellar motion.
