Intrinsic redshift and magnitude effects are studied in the general relativistic frame of a locally inhomogeneous universe model, where a cluster of galaxies is described by a Friedmann solution of high density bounded by a comoving hypersurface embedded in a Schwarzschild empty zone, itself matched to an exterior Friedmann model describing the background universe. The existence of a redshift effect for a cluster center is established and confirmed by writing the m/z relation for a cluster with respect to the field; no additional amplification or attenuation effect is found. Finally, it is shown that the effect could be actually observable in the case of rich clusters, provided the density parameter is high enough.
