An analysis is made of the structure and evolution of a complex of activity (CA) on the Sun which produced three large solar flares. So-called magnetic cells of 10 - 15° size were identified. One can observe the umbra of CA (a region of strong, preferentially vertical magnetic fields), the penumbra (a peripheral region of preferentially horizontal fields), and the core (a region of continuous sunspot formation in the CA umbra distinguished by rigid rotation). The evolution of the sunspot area, of sunspot and flare activity is considered. The constructed phenomenological model of CA under consideration is interpreted in terms of a "magnetic tree" scheme suggested by Piddington (1976).
