With a delay of a few years the Tail Probe has been launched on August 2/3 1995 from the rocket range in Pleseck in the North of European Russia. It will be used for investigations of the tail of the terrestrial magnetosphere. Another probe - the Auroral Probe - will be launched in 1996, and one of the experiments is prepared by Polish astronomers from the Space Research Center and the N. Copernicus Astronomical Center. Both probes are parts of the INTERBALL project for studying the influence of solar wind in specific parts of the terrestrial magnetosphere.
