A model is presented for the spectral and spatial distribution of thermal radiation for various vertical temperature profiles of the Jupiter atmosphere. Spectral intensities for ascending and descending thermal radiation are plotted as functions of height, line of sight, and ammonia and methane concentration. It is supposed that the mechanism for the formation of thermal radiation fields is the strong infrared absorption in the vibrational rotational bands of ammonia and methane and in the pressure-broadened bands of hydrogen. The feasibility of remote sounding of the Jupiter atmosphere using thermal radiation data is examined.
