Spectral lines due to circumstellar methane in the 3.3-micron spectra of IRC+10deg216 are characterized. All lines within the 2840-3075 kayser bandpass are identified as methane; this spectral interval encompasses the nu-3 fundamental band of methane. The lines were observable because the 0.65 kayser blueshift was sufficient to displace many low excitation lines into regions of high atmospheric transmission. Column densities for methane and other molecules are determined, and observed abundances are compared to Tsuji's (1965) calculations of the relative abundances of molecules formed from H, C, N, and O in the atmospheres of carbon-rich supergiants. The extent of the agreement depends on the amount of carbon precipitated as graphite and its effect, since the observed and calculated abundance values are in agreement for the case of no graphite precipitation.
