A composite rotation curve, derived from optical and radio observations of the spiral galaxy NGC 4736, is analyzed for resonances of a spiral wave. Choosing as the corotation radius the 'gap' between the main disk and outer ring, it is found that an inner Lindblad resonance should occur at about 1.1 arcmin and an outer resonance at about 4.5 arcmin. The predicted position for the inner resonance is coincident with a prominent ring-like zone of H II regions, while the outer resonance lies in a faint outer ring of the galaxy. It is therefore suggested that in many galaxies, these ring-like structures may be tracers for resonance regions. A brief discussion of possible resonances in other galaxies is presented. On the basis of existing dynamical and H-alpha surveys, several candidates are suggested for further investigation.
