Selective measurements of protons and alpha particles were made with the Prognoz-7 energy-mass spectrometer in the period from November 1978 to July 1979. Results are presented on the solar-wind-velocity dependence of the following parameters: the kinetic temperature of protons, the ion concentration, the velocity difference between alpha particles and protons, and the alpha-particle to proton temperature ratio. The findings confirm the important role of Coulomb collisions in leveling out the velocities and temperatures of the two ion components of the solar wind.
