The characteristics of the nearby universe are discussed. The large-scale structures close by are summarized, and methods of studying them are described. These include studies of the correlation function, Hubble expansion, cluster analysis, hierarchical clustering, percolation method, and probability density. The environment of the Galaxy, of the Local Supercluster, and of the Antila Cluster are described, and the relationship of other superclusters with the local one is discussed.
