Detailed physical models of the Inter-Planetary Dust (IPD) cloud and the resulting zodiacal light emission by both the DIRBE team (Kelsall et al. (1998) ) and Wright (1998), for subtraction from the Cosmic InfraRed Background measurements of the DIRBE experiment on the COBE satellite, assume a single emissivity and/or albedo at each wavelength, for the entire IPD cloud. Using a different physical model, and fitting to optical observations by Clementine, Hahn et al. (2002) find that in the ecliptic, 45% of the dust comes from asteroids and Jupiter Family Comets, while at least 89% of that enclosed by a radius 1 AU sphere is of cometary origin. These observations are at optical wavelengths, and only cover the inner solar system, but they still suggest that it may be important to allow for spatially dependent albedo and emissivity when calculating zodiacal model brightness. Here we adjust the Wright (1998) model by allowing each component of the IPD cloud (i.e. the main cloud, the circumsolar ring, and the IRAS dust bands) to have an independent albedo and emissivity, added to the model as free parameters in the fit to intensity variations in the DIRBE weekly maps.
