The SEGUE survey to obtain spectra of 240,000 Galactic stars along 200 sightlines combined with imaging through the plane of the Galaxy in five SDSS filters (u,g,r,i,z) is underway.
Early results from the SEGUE survey are presented, including multi-color photometry and follow-up medium resolution spectroscopy of many thousands of stars in our Galaxy's halo. Several interesting structures from 5 to 50 kpc from the sun are identified based on kinematics, photometric parallax, and a spectroscopic analysis of the stars.
