I present an overview of the recent optical photometric surveys of the Magellanic Clouds, including the MACHO Project's VR photometric catalog, Massey's UBVR Survey, and the UBVI Magellanic Clouds Photometric Survey. These catalogs are important repositories for understanding the stellar populations and star formation histories of the Clouds. In addition, they open the door to a wide range of spectroscopic follow-up work, ranging from chemical abundances, to the stellar initial mass function, to radial-velocity kinematics.
