Time variations of both interstellar H2O maser and stellar H2O maser are reviewed. The time scales of the time variation of interstellar masers are divided into two kinds: short and long, and especially, the former may provide a way to study the maser pumping mechanism. Stellar H2O maser are in the circumstellar envelope. The time variations of stellar H2O masers are divided into two kinds: 1. Spectral flux of a stellar H2O maser contains the obvious periodicity; 2. its star is a semi-regular variable and the spectral flux of the stellar H2O maser contains two peaks. The theories of the time variation mechanism of a stellar H2O maser contain the stellar near-infrared pumping mechanism and collisional pumping mechanism of gas molecules in the envelope.
