It is shown that the stationary wave pattern of perturbations generated by a current source in a streaming magnetized plasma can be formulated in terms of two hydromagnetic wave equations, one for the total pressure perturbation P and the other for the electric potential phi. The pressure perturbation acts as a source for phi, whose response is of a hybrid nature consisting of both magnetoacoustic and shear Alfven waves. If the pressure disturbance is transmitted predominantly in the fast mode, exact solutions can be developed for both P and phi for the case of a point source current. The stationary wave pattern described by these solutions is highlighted by such features as fast mode Mach cones and Alfven lines, which in the case of the phi perturbation become entangled in quite a complicated fashion.
