A new statistical test of the post-fit residuals is proposed. Unlike the usual residual analysis, the residuals are treated here as a sample of the random variable, which is specifically a white Gaussian noise. The higher order statistical moments and Pearson χ2 are computed in order to determine how far away is a sample from being white Gaussian. Being applied to the SLR data processing, it may discriminate solutions with same level of RMSs but significantly different orbits and parameters. Furthermore, a criterion for choosing proper solve-for parameters is discussed.
