The evolution of a red giant star to the stage of a low mass white dwarf's formation is studied for the case of a 0.7 solar mass and initial composition of population II. Attention is given to the evolution of the core mass and the stellar mass, as well as the radius of the star. The white dwarf formed by the process presented is of 0.4 solar masses; it is expected that higher initial masses will yield higher mass white dwarfs.
