We propose to observe the optical hot-spots of two nearby (z<0.1) FR II radio galaxies, 3C 33 and 3C 285, with Chandra/ACIS-S. The goal of this observation is to map the X-ray emission from the hot-spots in order to compare the X-ray morphology to the radio/IR/optical morphologies and to construct SEDs from the radio to the X-ray. Chandra observations of a sample of more distant FR II radio galaxies suggest that X-ray synchrotron emission dominates SSC emission for lower luminosity hot-spots (Hardcastle et al. 2004). These observations will elucidate the conditions under which synchrotron emission is important in FR II hot-spots.
