The ACS Virgo Cluster Survey is a 100-orbit HST/ACS program with deep g' and z' images of 100 early-type galaxies, from giants to dwarfs, in the nearby Virgo Cluster. In addition to studying the stellar light of the galaxies at high spatial resolution, we have measured the magnitudes, colors, and structural parameters for over 11,000 globular clusters, quantifying their properties across a large range in galaxy stellar mass. We present science highlights from our studies of globular cluster systems, galaxy surface brightness profiles, galaxy nuclei, diffuse star clusters, and distances via surface brightness fluctuations.
Support for program GO-9401 was provided through a grant from the Space Telescope Science Institute, which is operated by the Association for Research in Astronomy, Inc., under NASA contract NAS5-26555. Partial support for this work was provided by NASA LTSA grant NAG5-11714.
