Results are presented of postperihelion observations of P/Halley in February 1990 (at heliocentric distance r = 12.5 AU) and February-April 1991 (at r = 14.3-14.6 AU. It was found that, whereas in 1990 no extended coma could be detected, a large coma was observed in February 12, 1991, persisting until mid-April, indicating that a major outburst must have taken place between the two observation periods. This paper presents a preliminary description of the morphology of the cloud and its evolution.
