Protoplanetary Nebulae: F Supergiants, Protoplanetary Nebulae: Hydrodynamics

Scientific paper

Some F supergiant stars show irregular variations of their luminosities that seem to attribute to the irregular pulsation. These stars are thought to be in the phase just before the planetary nebulae. There are two explanations for this irregularity of the pulsation, one is that it is due to the deterministic chaos, another to the coexistence of two modes, and one needs more detailed investigation. The authors examined for searching what is the favorite starting model for the simulation of this irregular pulsation. To obtain more precise results they used a hydrodynamic code with new opacities and divided into fine shells.
