Optical spectra of the high-redshift QSO HS 1700 + 6416 are analyzed. The rest equivalent width probability distribution and the H I column density probability distribution of the absorbers are fitted with functional forms. The velocity distribution of the absorbers is well approximated by a Gaussian whose mean and dispersion are 48.5 +/- 3.9 km/s and 20.5 +/- 2.7 km/s respectively.
