An optical polarization map is presented for NGC 1999, the reflection
nebulosity surrounding V380 Orionis. This star is slightly embedded on
the near side of an extensive dust cloud which has an oblique boundary
in front of the star. The dark globule silhouetted against NGC 1999 is
physically associated with the nebula.
