Evidence is presented for the existence of asteroidal satellites. Instances wherein the occultation of a star occurred when a known asteroid was close to the line of sight of the star are discussed, and the implication that the eclipses were caused by satellites of the asteroids is considered. The role of amateur astronomers in these observations is reviewed, and possible applications of the technique of indirect occultation with regard to the solar system are discussed.
