Cosmological plasma expansion is considered in the framework of Chernikov's relativistic kinetic theory. It is shown that relativistic kinetics provides for two stages of universe evolution for which thermodynamic plasma equilibrium is asymptotically attained: (1) the very early ultrarelativistic state and (2) the nonrelativistic expansion stage, when radiation escapes from matter. The escape of radiation from matter leads to the transfer of energy from the photon component of the plasma to the electron component.
