Recent revisions in the local stellar birthrate function significantly affect conclusions regarding the determination of the masses of pulsar progenitors from pulsar statistics. Use of the most recent birthrates, along with recently revised pulsar birthrates, shows that stars in astrophysically reasonable mass ranges (e.g., between 5 and 8 solar masses or above 7 solar masses) can produce an adequate number of pulsars. Use of the correct stellar birthrates changes the allowable mass range by amounts exceeding the changes produced by recently proposed alterations in the pulsar birthrate. If pulsar birthrates are as low as current observations allow, the mass range can be extremely narrow (e.g., 5.0-5.6 solar masses), or stars with masses exceeding 15 solar masses can produce the required number of pulsars.
