The high-velocity, moderately metal-poor star BD -0(deg)4234 is shown to be a double-lined spectroscopic binary. The Ca II H and K lines and the Balmer lines H-alpha and H-epsilon are always seen in emission. The primary's temperature and the system orbital elements are derived. The secondary's temperature, the component masses and radii, and the orbital inclination are estimated. Both stars are shown to be dwarfs. The system's similarities to RS CVn and By Dra variables are discussed, and it is concluded that BD represents an intermediate case.
