Results of the DUSMA experiment on the Vega-1 and Vega-2 missions to Halley's comet are presented. Mass spectroscopy was used to analyze dust particles in four mass bands. Mass spectra differed significantly along the trajectory of the encounter. Results show that the dust population includes three groups, background, spiral structures, and clusters. Clusters are relatively heavy particles which transport material from the cometary nucleus, and their destruction produces the fine dust components observed beyond the dust paraboloid predicted by theory. Terminal velocities and apex positions of particles are given.
