A concept for an alternative single-crew lunar airlock (Doorlock) for National Aeronautics of Space Administration's (NASA) First Lunar Outpost (FLO) is presented. The concept offers an 1,800 kg mass savings when compared to the current FLO baseline and provides additional advantages of operational simplicity and low cost. Configuration and operations issues are addressed, mass comparisons of airlock options are provided, and hardware modification approaches are assessed in this paper.
