Although it is still early to have a general picture of the detailed effects of interaction on the X-ray properties of galaxies, the first Chandra results on perturbed and merging galaxies are stunning. This talk will review the available results and will focus on the Chandra observations of the Antennae galaxies, where an extraordinary luminous population of X-ray sources has been detected. This type of sources, also seen in the Chandra images of M82, may be connected with a short-lived population of intermediate-mass black holes. A very luminous hot ISM is also detected, with features ranging from hot super-bubbles to local and galaxian outflows.
